Mobile Shoppers Have Leverage

Mobile shoppers, those savvy consumers who use handheld devices such as smartphones and other gadgets to search for deals while standing inside a store, are in a better position to bargain with retailers for a lower price.

New applications allow customers to scan a bar code from a product and show store employees what other retailers charge for the same merchandise. If it’s a better price, a store can either match it on the spot or send the customer elsewhere.
