Social activism maximizes social media effectiveness

Social activism maximizes social media effectiveness

Check out this very compelling series of videos from The Story of Stuff Project about how people are destroying our planet and other critiques on social patterns. They don’t leave you with in a dismal pit, but provide resolution options. This is what they say their movement is about on their website:

The Story of Stuff Project was created by Annie Leonard to leverage and extend the film’s impact. We amplify public discourse on a series of environmental, social and economic concerns and facilitate the growing Story of Stuff community’s involvement in strategic efforts to build a more sustainable and just world. Our on-line community includes over 150,000 activists and we partner with hundreds of environmental and social justice organizations worldwide to create and distribute our films, curricula and other content”

This is a growing movement with over 3 million upload views on their You Tube channel, almost 12,000 twitter followers, and media exposure on the front cover of the LA Times, and as a guest on the Colbert Report among others. Check out their website at www.storyofstuff.org or on You Tube to sample some of their great content.

    • Hello,
I’m glad that we share the same interests and that the blog is able to give you valuable information. I am hoping to grow the community presence and bring more like minded individuals together. If you want to receive the latest updates for the blog, you can subscribe in the bottom left corner of each page. Also you can follow me on my professional Twitter (mrobertsonline), Linked In (Michael Roberts), and Facebook (Mike Roberts) for additional updates.

Lastly, to answer your question about the theme, it is called “Coraline by Automatic”. The base template is available through WordPress.com and then I customized it from there in regards to what components would go on the side and bottom of each page and then designed the main header myself.

Thanks for the comment; keep reading and posting!
